Friends, Cinderella, and File Folder Fun

This is Morgan and Elaine. They are 2 months apart. We had dinner with Elaine's family last night. They had a hard time sharing at first, but eventually realized that its more fun to play with each other.
This is Morgan and Elaine in December of last year. Its amazing how much a child can change in one year.
Morgan watching Cinderella for the 2nd time yesterday. She's crazy about "See Ella". For some reason, every time she sees the prince, she says "Daddy's home". Like she thinks her dad is some kind of prince charming. Weird, I know.
For the last week I've been working on the File Folder Games for Morgan. They are so fun and so neat. You can order books of them. Then you color and cut them out. They're great for church and for family home evening lessons.

Won and Bows

A picture of Korean Won for you. They just recently came out with the 50,000 won bill. Which is nice, now our stack of rent money isn't 6 inches thick! The coins are 500, 100, 50, and 10.
A shot of the bow I made for Morgan last night. It was my first attempt, so its not that great, but I'll get better. I just copied it from a bow that a Korean lady gave to her. It cost me a total of 50 cents to make :)

PeeAnOo

Guess what I got yesterday! Yep, my very first piano. Its an electric piano. And I got a KILLER deal from a good friend at church who needed to get rid of it before moving to Germany.
After returning from my Utah trip this summer, I realized how bored and idle I had been since arriving in Korea. So I set myself 2 goals when I got back here. The first one was to learn how to sew. I've done pretty good with that so far. I've completed 4 projects and am working on a 5th one now. My second goal was to learn to play the piano. I have a couple of beginner books, including the beginner course that our Church has published. I'm so excited to get started and to maybe someday pass on some musical ability to my children!

Here is project number 4. A diaper case that matches the bag I made. Click HERE to see the tutorial (which is actually very confusing and I had to finish it my own way). I still have to add velcro to the flap. I'm making a trip to the fabric/craft market today. Hopefully I can find some!

My Latest Project

I had a lot of fun making this bag. It was a bit more challenging than my previous projects. Click HERE for the tutorial.

Storage Cubes

This is my latest sewing project. I wish I could say it was my idea, but it wasn't. It didn't turn out as stable as I wanted it to. But it will serve its purpose. Its going to hold scraps of fabric on my sewing desk. Click here to see how I made it. I will be making one for Morgan's hair stuff and maybe to organize Jackson's closet (socks, hats, mittens, etc.).

My Sewing Machine Cover

Remember how Clint bought me a sewing machine for Valentine's day? Well, its July, and I hadn't even taken the plastic off of it yet. So this first week of being home from vacation, my goal was to learn how to use it. I read through the manual and figured out all the switches and buttons. Then today, in less than an hour, I finished my first project. A sewing machine cover. I thought it turned out pretty cute. I made it long enough that it touches the table cause the dust here is so thick I didn't want any of the machine exposed. Click here for my "tutorial" on how to make one.

I Don't Know-September 24, 2008

I copied this flag from my friend Mindy. But I don't know, I'm not so sure I like how mine turned out. It just seems too plain. What do you think?

My First Sewing Project-August 28, 2008

I finally learned how to sew thanks to my mom. I decided I wanted to make a rag quilt for Morgan so I looked it up on line and figured it out. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. And I think it turned out pretty cute! If I were to do it again I think I would put some solid colored squares in along with the prints. And I would have made it a little bigger.

Be A Homemaker

Hey everyone. I realized today that with all of the craziness of graduation and moving our homemaker blog has been neglected. I think most of you know about it. http://beahomemaker.blogspot.com/ So I'm just wondering if anyone has anything they'd like to contribute. (Mindy, I hope you don't mind but I put your American Flag on there). If you want to be a contributor I can add you as an author to the blog so that you can sign in and add whatever you want. Just email me or leave a comment and let me know. My mother-in-law and I are going to (hopefully) be doing some crafts in the coming weeks so I'll be taking pictures. And for those who don't know, you can put anything on the blog that has anything to do with being a homemaker...helpful hints, beuty tips, recipes, crafts, projects, decorating tips, how to put together a 72 hour kit, tips on food storage, activity ideas for kids, cooking tips, etc, etc. The list is endless. I'de really like to get it going again. So please, if you have any ideas let me know. Even if its something you did years ago. Thansk everyone!

My Book

I made this book back in the Spring of '06 when I took an art class for a general education requirement. I came across it while packing boxes and decided to do with it what I had always intended on doing...I put our wedding pictures in it. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

This is what it looks like fully opened up

Lampshade-May 30, 2008

Okay, so I know I've already posted a ton today, but one last thing. I get so excited when I do creative/crafty things that I just want to show everyone (even though I usually have to steal the ideas from someone else-thanks Missy). I bought this lamp at Wal Mart and cut pieces of fabric that match Morgan's room to put on it. I just glued them on with fabric glue. Isn't it cute?
