Friends-August 26, 2008

On Tuesday I got to go to lunch with some of our great friends from Alabama. The Salisbury's were here visiting from Alabama for a few days and the Heightman's moved back to Utah from Alabama back in December. It was so good to see them. Clint and I are so blessed to have met so many great people while we were in Alabama. Now if we could just find a way to take them all to Korea with us :)

GoodBye Party-July 13, 2008

On July 13th the Salisbury's threw us a going away party. It was so fun to have most of our friends there to say goodbye and wish us luck. I think we got pictures of almost everyone, but if not...it's Mindy's fault because she was the photographer :) Anyway, thanks everyone who came. We miss you all and hope our paths cross again in the near future. You all became like family to us and we're so thankful for your friendship. We're also thankful for the gospel of Christ and the comfort and blessings we receive from Him in our times of need. You have all been a great blessing to us and we'll never forget you. There will never be another place like Ft. Rucker. We love you guys!

Lake Eufaula-July 11-12, 2008

On July 11th we went to Lake Eufaula with 3 other couples, courtesy of Dan and Holly Dippold. We had such a great time. We stayed at the family lake house. It was beautiful. We hung out Friday night and ate the yummiest punch bowl cake. On Saturday morning, after the best breakfast of baked french toast, we went out on the lake. We hung out on the beach, skiied, tubed, and swam.
Here's Morgan and me waiting for the boat Morgan waiting patiently
The three of us on the boat
Morgan wasn't sure what to think about her life jacket, she loved the boat ride though
Morgan and Mindy (miss you aunt Mindy!)
Mindy, Morgan, and Rusty enjoying the water
Nate, Dan, Curtis, and Clint
We forgot our beach umbrella so the boys made this shade for Morgan
Holly and me on the tube. We got the most air. What a blast!
Morgan finally sneaking in a nap
The girls catching a ride back to the house for lunch After we went out on the boat and hung out on the beach we went back to the house for lunch. We were so worn out we all just crashed. Who says kids are the only ones who need naptime?
You can't really tell, but it was pouring after naptime so we sat on the pourch and watched it. We saw lightning strike on the water. It was so neat! Thanks Dan and Holly for inviting us! It was a great last trip before leaving 'Bama.

Good Bye For Now-July 11, 2008

On Friday, July 11th, the movers came by to pick up our household goods. We didn't even fill up a whole crate! We sent the bare essentials, literally. It was sad to pack the rest of our stuff knowing we won't see it for at least a year.

Quick overview-July 15, 2008

We had a super busy weekend getting our stuff packed and taking an insanely last minute weekend getaway trip to Lake Eufaula (pictures will come when we get to Utah).
Friday July 11, 2008-they came to get our Household Goods to go to Korea. Then the rest of the day we tried to pack and clean a little. Then we dropped our dog off at the Kuhni's (words can't express how thankful we are for their help) and headed to the Lake.
Saturday July 12, 2008-we spent the day in the sun and on the water. What a blast! I haven't been on a tube in years and I felt like a little kid again. We had so much fun!
Sunday July 13, 2008-We went to the first hour of church and skipped out early. Our amazing friend, Holly, came home from church with us and helped me clean and pack. Then we went to the Salisbury's for dinner and a going away party. We're really thankful that they offered their house for the party. It turned out great and I was happy to be able to say good bye to almost everyone.
Monday July 14, 2008-Clint picked up the Penske truck while the mover's came for our Unaccompanied Baggage. Then some more of our amazing friends came over to help us finishing packing and loading the truck. We were supposed to finish by 3, but didn't get done til 4. We passed our inspection thanks to everyone's help. There is no way we would have been able to do it without them! After showering and relaxing for a bit we went to dinner at Mellow Mushroom (since it's not out west or in Korea).
Now today we are going to finish clearing post and we're off to Missouri to see Clint's litte sister.

Tornado...Not Really

I know the last couple of days have been picture overload, but as of Monday our computer will be in a crate on it's way to Korea. I want to keep up with everything so that nothing gets missed or forgotten.

Our house is seriously a mess right now. Its so hard having a 'Utah' pile, an 'Unaccompanied Baggage' pile (which arrives in Korea first), and a 'Household Goods' pile (which arrives last in Korea), and a 'Yard Sale' pile. I'm going nuts trying to keep everything in order and organized. I chewed off all of my fingernails yesterday just looking at my piles and wondering if everything was where it was supposed to be. Its also hard packing stuff to go into storage, knowing that I won't see it for 2 years. Like Morgan's bedroom decoration...holy cow...I almost cried packing up her Strawberry Shortcake bedroom decor! All we're taking with us is our kitchen/bathroom stuff, 2 shelves, a few toys for Morgan, and our clothes and shoes. We're taking the Pack n Play so Morgan has a place to sleep, and her high chair. Like Nate said, "its like we're going on a 2 year camping trip." What a fun adventure!!

This is literally all we have in our cupboards. Baby food and plastic/paper dishes. Most of our food has gone to friends and the rest is going to Clint's mom in Utah. Baby food is so cheap at the comissary compared to the economy, so I had to stock up just a little.

Graduation-July 10, 2008

Clint graduated today. The ceremony was at 2. We got really good seats. This first picture is Morgan in her super cute outfit that grandma Webb bought her while she was here. She's 7 months old and finally fits in size 6 months. Yay! She was being goofy and covering her face like she was camera shy.
The excitement is killing him...can you tell?

Me pinning on Clint's wings. I couldn't get them on and we both just looked at each other and kind of laughed. Its not as easy as it looks.
I FINALLY got the wings pinned on him. Of course Morgan is looking at the other pins on his jacket thinking...hmmm, how can I get those in my mouth?
After the ceremony
Missy and Jimmy came to watch Clint graduate. We are so blessed to have such wonderful supportive friends who have become our family away from family.
Mindy and Nate also came. Thanks you guys! We're so glad you could all make it.
We didn't know my brother was coming from Fort Benning, GA with his family, I was SO excited when I turned around in my seat and saw them standing in the back. Thanks for coming guys! We are really going to miss you!
Ambria sits up! I love it! She is such a beautiful girl and was lucky enough to get her eyelashes from the her daddy. Long and full!
We ate dinner at Trifecta in Daleville and then we had to go to DQ to try the new Thin Mint Blizzards! Braydon eating his ice cream at Dairy Queen. If you notice in the background...Jason is very serious about eating his!
As much as I hate close ups of me...I just love my nephew. He's so fun! He was having a good time taking goofy pictures with my camera.
Don't even ask because I have no idea what Jason is doing to this ice cream cone.

Graduation Ball-July 9, 2008

Last night was the graduation ball. We got to dress up all fancy so it was fun. My friend Jennie did my hair for me (THANK YOU SO MUCH!). Our friend, Nate, took this picture when we dropped Morgan off. Nate babysat most the night until Mindy got home from work. Thanks guys!! We owe you one!
Just a picture of the tables. Whoever sat at this table closest to the camera got a HUGE piece of cheesecake! Mine was half that size :(
A handsome picture of my husband
Another one of us
This table was in the center of the room. It was a POW/MIA/KIA memorial. They had a ceremony that honored men and women from the 4 branches of the military. Everthing on the table had a meaning, from the salt to the rose to the turned up chairs. I'm pretty sure I cried during the ceremony. The soldiers who participated did an amazing job.
The only drinks onthe table were wine, iced tea, and water. Clint thought the wine was grape juice. Just kidding, but he looks a little on the tipsy side here.
Nikki...I took this picture for you...I didn't know if you had seen the center pieces that they told you about. They actually looked really nice, except they could have used prettier floating candles.
Us at dinner
They did a tribute to the family members who have supported the soldiers through flight school. They gave us a 'diploma' and called us 'gradumates'. I thought it was cute. Then they gave us necklaces that are miniature charms of the wings that will be pinned on them tomorrow. Clint actually bought me the necklace for my birthday 2 years ago not knowing that this was the tradition.
One last picture of us in front of the flags after the ball

The guest speaker did a pretty good job. He actually made me want Clint to retire from the military. He had been in for 39 years of active duty and had experienced so much. I kept looking at all of the high ranking officials there and thinking how honorable those men are. You can see the experience in their faces, and I can't imagine all they've seen and done. And their wives have been there with them every step of the way, supporting them and keeping their families in order, sometimes by themselves. What honorable women they are. The speaker talked about how the families that support their soldiers are usually the deciding factor in career changes, change of station opportunities, promotion opportunities, etc, so it was appropriate for them to recieve their 'wings' before the soldiers do tomorrow (hence the necklace thing). One thing I've loved about the military is their appreciation and respect for families.
