So Clint left today for 7 or 8 days or something like that. And I just finished watching Bridge to Teribithia for the first time. Pretty sad movie, I cried my eyes out.
You know something that really bothers me. When my husband leaves for a week, it kind of makes me sad. Us military wives, we can handle it, its what we do. But it just bothers me when someone says something like "oh, please, I'VE been seperated from MY husband for A LOT longer." Ha! News flash...I've been seperated from my husband for a lot longer than a week too! But that doesn't mean I LIKE it when he leaves for a week. And when one of my friend's husbands have to leave for even one night, I sympathize with them if they are sad. I don't say, "well, you should try being alone for 3 months, or a year!" (not that we've been seperated for a year, but we will some day). Why do such petty little things become a competition to some people?
Anyway, I'm addicted to reading. You wanna see my list of books I want to read? You probably don't but here it is...These are in no specific order...
Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites Series by Chris Hemmerdinger
Savvy by Ingrid Law
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter by Susan Wittig Albert
The Legacy of the King's Pirates by Marylu Tyndall
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Wicked by Gregory Mcguire
The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler
To Love, Honor, and Vacuum by Sheila Gregoire
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Rebecca by Daphne DuMarier
Parenting With Love and Logic
The Fire Within Series by Chris D'Lacey
Any Max Lucado book
Hearts in Hiding by Betsy Brannon Green
The Inheritence Trilogy (Eregon, etc.)
George and Martha, a Love Story by Mary Higgins Clark
The Atlantis Series by Greg Donegan
Any Robin Cook medical thriller book
Think I can read all these before the baby is born? I've already read more books this year than I did the entire year last year.
In your honest opinion, (because this is, lately, a topic of conversation in our home) is reading for entertainment a waste of time? Does it distract you from your responsibilities as a spouse/parent? Is it something you think God approves or disapproves of? I do read for knowledge every once-in-a-while. I'm currently ready Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey.
Its no different than watching TV for entertainment right? However, I think reading (even fantasy, fiction, etc.) is good for the brain. Your imagination gets excercise, you learn new words sometimes, and sometimes you learn a valuable life lesson.
So what do you think? Is reading for entertainment a waste of precious time?

America's Most Smartest Model
WOW I'M SURPRISED SO MANY OF YOU KNEW THE ANSWER! ITS GRAND 'OL PARTY. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE.
A couple of weeks ago Clint and I were watching America's Most Smartest Model (okay so our English channels are very limited). The challenge was that they were asked a question and if they got it wrong they had to eat junk food. If they got it right, they ate something healthy. One of the questions was this...
What does GOP stand for when referring to the Republican party?
Don't look it up, but tell me what you think it means. Cause I had no idea but one of the guy models got it right.

Milestone
As of Saturday the 7th, Morgan is officially off of the bottle. Completely 100% off. She hasn't had one since Friday night. I'm a little concerned though...
I had her down to 2 bottles a day. One in the afternoon and one in the evening. But last week we had an appointment at the hospital and a lady (we'll call her a "nutrition consultant") told me that Morgan should have been off the bottle at 12 months and that I had made a mistake by giving her milk in her bottle. I thought this was a little outrageous. I don't know many 12 month old kids that are completely off the bottle and boob.
I decided to see what Morgan would do if she didn't have a bottle all day or all night and lo and behold, she was perfectly fine without it. She slept her usual 10-12 hours at night and never woke up once. So I guess she doesn't need it, but now the thing thats concerning me is that she refuses to drink milk out of her sippy cup. So she's not drinking any milk anymore. I'm worried that she's not getting the calcium, vitamin D, and fat that she needs in her diet.

New CarSeat
I've been looking at carseats online lately. Morgan is just about outgrown her infant seat. I've been trying to research what the requirements are for age/weight and what type of seat a child should be in. From what I understand they should be rear facing until they are at least 1 and weigh 20 lbs. Then they can face forward in a car seat until they are 4 years old and weigh 40 lbs. And then can sit in a booster until they are 8 years old and weigh 80 lbs. After that they aren't required to use any sort of seat.
These the regulations for Utah that I found by doing a google search. But of course you can't believe everything you read so I'm wondering what all of you mothers out there know and think about it. The car seat below is the one I want. I love our Graco infant seat so I'm thinking a Graco 3-in-1 seat next. It has great reviews. Please give me your opinions. What kind of seat do you use? Do the above mentioned regulations sound about right?

Just Wondering-September 15, 2008
I've been thinking about something a lot lately. And I'm wondering what every one's thoughts/feelings/opinions are on the subject.
Almost 3 years ago I had a miscarriage. I was only 7 weeks pregnant when it happened and after doing an ultrasound, the doc said the blastocyte probably never made it past 3 weeks, even though I didn't start bleeding until 7 weeks. Which means it may have never been considered an embryo. For a long time after that miscarriage my thoughts were mostly occupied by questions of whether or not that baby was considered, in a spiritual sense, one of my children. Although I only new I was pregnant for 1 week before the miscarriage happened, I felt very connected and attached to that little clump of cells. It was my baby, something I had been looking forward to my entire life.
As far as I know, there isn't a whole lot of Doctrine on exactly when a spirit enters a body and what happens with miscarried babies. I was reassured by many people, and non-gospel doctrine books, that I will have the chance to raise that child in the next life, regardless of how early it was miscarried. And the thought of that got me through most days. It took another year for us to get pregnant again. Since the day I found out I was pregnant with Morgan I have wondered if she is the same spirit that would have come to us had I carried our first baby. Or if she has an older brother/sister with whom she was with before she was sent to us.
I know this is not of great importance, that all things will be revealed in their own due time. Its not something I dwell on, its not something that brings me sadness anymore, its just something I'm curious about. Especially this month, as the child would be turning 2 years old. I have faith that our Father in Heaven has a plan and that our experience of loss was part of that plan. I felt comforted during that time and still do. I know that either way, whether Morgan is that same spirit or there is another spirit waiting for us in heaven, that child is where he/she is supposed to be.
I'm just awfully curious what others think about the topic. So leave me your thoughts and feelings. Don't worry about being offensive. If you think that baby was just a lump of tissue with no purpose or significance, that's okay. I want to know your honest opinions.

Be A Homemaker
Hey everyone. I realized today that with all of the craziness of graduation and moving our homemaker blog has been neglected. I think most of you know about it. http://beahomemaker.blogspot.com/ So I'm just wondering if anyone has anything they'd like to contribute. (Mindy, I hope you don't mind but I put your American Flag on there). If you want to be a contributor I can add you as an author to the blog so that you can sign in and add whatever you want. Just email me or leave a comment and let me know. My mother-in-law and I are going to (hopefully) be doing some crafts in the coming weeks so I'll be taking pictures. And for those who don't know, you can put anything on the blog that has anything to do with being a homemaker...helpful hints, beuty tips, recipes, crafts, projects, decorating tips, how to put together a 72 hour kit, tips on food storage, activity ideas for kids, cooking tips, etc, etc. The list is endless. I'de really like to get it going again. So please, if you have any ideas let me know. Even if its something you did years ago. Thansk everyone!

Almost Jail Birds-March 15, 2008
Okay, at the request of Erin and Nikki, heres the story about how we almost got thrown in jail. It really isn't as exciting as it sounds. But here it is...
When we went to the Dominican Republic we rented a car so we could go visit some of the families that Clint taught while he was on his mission. First, you must know that down in the "DR" they drive like lunatics! There's pretty much no rules except for red means stop and green means go. There's no 'right-of-way', no blinkers, no double yellow lines. Its pretty much every man for himself. So we were trying to fight our way through traffic when a cop on a dirt bike pulls up to the side of us and motions for us to pull over. So we pull over and he takes Clint's drivers license from him and tells us to follow him. He was taking us to the station because we ran a red light. (the stop light was actually not working at the time). Clint argued with him in Spanish for a while but he kept saying he had to take us to the station. He got back on his bike and we started following him. But a minute later he pulled to the side of the road, we did the same and he came to the window and said give me 100 dollars or I'll put you in jail. Clint refused and told him he lived in the DR for 2 years and knows how things work and this guy is full of crap. The cop said okay, give me 50 bucks then or I'm gonna put you in jail. Clint laughed at him and demanded he give him his license back and again told the cop that he's full of crap. Finally after yelling back and forth in Spanish the guy gave Clint his license and got on his bike and drove away. After about 15 minutes of me being absolutely confused about what was going on and Clint almost ready to assault an officer, we kept all our money and didn't go to jail.
