New Stuff-June 29, 2008

On Friday night (the 27th), the 3 of us went to Playa Azul in Enterprise for dinner. They had a live Mariachi (is that how you spell it?) band playing and they came to our table to make a fuss over Morgan. Then they played and sang "It's a Small World After All". It was fun to listen to the way they pronounced the words. Morgan loved it too, she just stared at all their instruments.

On Saturday night we went to La Parilla (another Mexican restaurant) in Dothan. Its new and we keep hearing about how great it is. The food was really good, though Garrett, our server, was not so good. We figure there won't be much Mexican food in Korea, so we're trying to get it all in while we still can. Oh enchilladas...how I will miss you!

After dinner we went to Adventureland to miniature golf, but there were dark clouds looming in the distance and we just new we wouldn't get a 'rain' check if the weather got bad. So instead we went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe and got smoothies.

After smoothies we played MadGab. Clint makes me laugh so hard when I'm trying to read the cards that I can't even talk. Sorry girls, its my fault we lost!

Update on Korea-June 25, 2008

We still haven't found out exactly where in Korea we're going. But what we do know is that Morgan and I can move over there regardless of whether or not Clint gets Command Sponsored. Once there, he has the option to extend his time by 12 months or 24 months. If he choses to extend, he will get paid a little more each month. This is what we are planning on doing as of right now: We will move our stuff back to Utah sometime in July after graduation on the 10th, and will put it in storage. I will stay with my mom (mom, can I stay with you?) until Clint is settled in and finds us a place to live. Morgan and I will then join him in Korea for a 2-3 year tour (2-3 years because we want to extend to maximize our experience). The military will pay for 1600 lbs of our stuff to be shipped over there, they will give us housing & utility allowance, and all 3 of us will have health insurance as well as access to health care while we're there (yes, the rumors about this stuff are false). We know a lot can change in the next few weeks. So, like I said, this is what we're planning as of right now.

Okay, now that you know whats going on...we've started packing and going through all of our junk and our house is now starting to echo. The housing company is coming over today to do a pre-move out inspection. The reality of all that needs to be done is starting to kick in and make me very anxious. Clint cleaned out his closet last night. I never knew that a guy could get rid of so many clothes and still have an entire wardrobe to wear. Anyone's husband need new clothes?

Lots of Sun and Water-June 22, 2008

On Thursday I took Morgan swimming with a couple of our friends. Ft. Rucker has 2 nice outdoor pools that I never even knew about until a couple of months ago. She does so well in the water. She loves it. On Saturday we went to Ft. Walton Beach in Florida with the Salisbury's, their cousins, and the Cooper's. We ate lunch and then hit the sand and had a blast! It was our last trip to the beach in Florida before we move and we're glad we could go. It was funny to watch Morgan try to eat the sand and suck the salty water off her fingers.

I feel like this quote is a great summary of the person I want to be. Its so easy to get wrapped up in what the world wants me to be rather than what God wants me to be. This quote reminds me of the qualities I should always strive for.

Rock Band-June 17, 2008

I never knew a game called Rock Band exsisted! Its awesome! We were over at our friend's house on Saturday the 14th and the guys start pulling out this game. I was in awe. Like I said, I had never heard of it. I had so much fun watching them get into it. They were actually pretty good.

K-K-Korea-June 15, 2008

On Friday morning Clint cam home from his morning formation and found me in the bathroom getting ready for Morgan's 6 month check up. He just stared at me in the mirror with no readable expression.

Katie: "What?"
Clint: "We got orders."
Katie: "WE DID?! Where?"
Clint: "Korea."
Katie: "Whatever, you're joking."
Clint: "No I'm not."
Katie: "Are you serious? You better not be lying!"
Clint: "I'm not lying, we got Korea."

And then came the flood of tears. Yes, I cried. The lonliness of having Clint gone is still fresh in my mind from him being away for 3 weeks. Of course we can TRY to get permission for Morgan and me to go with him, but we just don't know how likely it is. So we'll see. People have gone through harder things than being seperated for a year, so I'm sure we can handle it. We feel like God wanted us to join the military for a reason and we know He wouldn't send us (or Clint) anywhere without a reason. The initial shock was hard, but we're excited for the next phase of our lives and for what the future holds. We truly believe what the Lord told Joseph Smith while a prisoner in the Liberty jail...

"...if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good." Doctrine & Covenants 122:7

Some might compare moving to Korea as the jaws of hell gaping open, but we see it as an opportunity to experience a small piece of this world. Regardless of whether or not we go as a family or part ways for a year it will be a learning experience for us and will only make us stronger as individuals and as a family.

PS We will continue to update everyone as we get more information. We don't know when Clint has to be in Korea, we don't know exactly what Camp he's going to in Korea, we don't know what the chances are of Morgan and me going, we don't know if we'll be stopping in Utah before he/we go, we don't know where I'll live if I don't go with him, we don't know how long we'll be there if I do go with him. We do know that he graduates from Flight School on July 10th, so we won't be going anywhere before July 11th :)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!-June 15, 2008

A wise man once said of his wife, "she may not be perfect, but she's perfect for me." The same rings true of Clint. He is exactly what I want and what I need, even though he doesn't ALWAYS put his shoes away, and he doesn't ALWAYS take out the trash when its overflowing. But he ALWAYS takes care of me and Morgan, he is a worthy son of God who tries very hard to do the things God wants him to do, he is strong mentally, physically, spiritually, and in every other aspect of his life. He never asks "why", he only takes his circumstances and makes the best of them and then learns from the experience. And he loves unconditionally, for all these things Morgan and I are truly grateful. We've been blessed with an amazing husband and father and could never ask for anything more. Happy Father's Day Clint!

And happy father's day to my wonderful Dad, Step-Dad, and Dad-in-law. You have all been wonderful examples to us and have given us so much. Thanks for all you do! Wish we could be there to celebrate your day, but know we are thinking of you and miss you very much!

Cheeseball-June 13, 2008

I just love Morgan's cheesy grin. I was making chomping noises at her and she was laughing so hard. This was right before her 6 month check up appointment. She weighed 16.6 lbs (50th percentile) and is 26 1/2 inches long (65-70th percentile). I can't believe how fast time flies. She's eating solids better now. She really likes squash. Not sweet potatoes. And she is holding her own bottle now.

I'm not sure where Clint is, but this guy was standing on the side of the road with a couple of duffle bags so I thought I'd be nice and bring him home. He's cute enough. Kind of skinny around the middle since he was starved for a couple of days. But he'll do. I planned a very nice lunch for Clint...roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, corn...but we decided to go to lunch with all his buddies that he roomed with while he was gone. We went to Playa Azul in Enterprise, the best Mexican food we've had since coming to 'Bama. I highly recommend it. Sure is nice to have him home. I love being a family. He has a week off before his next course, so we're getting lots of quality time together.

Wasps, Juice, Tummy Time, and Hair-June 8, 2008

This is a wasp nest that is in my window sill. I just found it on Friday. Its actually really cool cause its made out of mud. It would be interesting to see the wasps at work, but I rather it not be in my window sill :)
A good friend of mine brought over some juice the other day for Morgan cause she's having a hard time going #2. Everytime she drinks it this is the face she makes. It cracks me up! Remember the 'bitter beer' commercials from forever ago?

Morgan usually hates being on her stomach and rolls over the second you put her there, but yesterday she was having a good time talking to our good friends, Nate and Mindy.

I know this picture is really lame, but some of you wanted to see my newly highlighted hair. I sure am thankful for friends with talent. Nikki colored my hair and gave me some layers and she did an awesome job. Thanks Nikki!

New Pics (that was fast huh?)-June 6, 2008

I don't remember taking this picture. But its kind of cute, don't ya think? She's drooling so much lately. Its possible that she's teething. She doesn't really suck on anything anymore. She chews on stuff. Especially her pacifier. I think grandpa Fred will really like this picture. He loves pictures of little kids with their mouths wide open.
This morning I put Morgan down for a nap in her crib. She was in there for a good half hour and I thought she had fallen asleep. All of the sudden the monitor starts going wild with static. So I poke my head into her room to see whats going on and she's trying to eat the monitor! Keep in mind that when I put her in her crib, her head is about a foot and a half away from the monitor and her blankets are tucked tight around her. She arches her back and kicks her legs over and over until she gets to where she wants to be. No more taking naps on beds or couches.

I made a little photo album for Morgan. It has pictures of all her grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I gave it to her today and she just layed there looking at the pictures of grandma and grandpa Webb for a long time. I thought it was cute.

Our blog is now open to all readers. Just thought I'd let ya'll know. O, and sorry about the lack of new pictures. Morgan and I haven't been doing much. Just trying to get the house clean and the dog bathed/groomed and food in the house in preparation for Clint to come home. I'll get some new pictures soon though. Oh, and one other thing. Morgan is FINALLY eating oatmeal cereal and sometimes sweet potatoes. I started mixing them with water instead of formula and she actually likes it better. No more gagging on the stuff. It really makes me happy because I have a small suspicion that baby food (especially making it) is cheaper than formula.

Countdown-June 4, 2008

I just want everyone to know that Clint comes home in 4 days! Hooray! I can't wait. No more being a single parent. (At least until he get deployed). This also means that we will (cross your fingers) get orders in 5 days. But please, please, don't ask. I PROMISE we will tell you where we're going when we find out, either by our blog or a mass text message. But believe me, we WILL tell all of you. We're not going to keep it a secret from anyone. So just be patient! Its been just as hard for us to wait as it has been for you. Don't expect it before Monday though.
