Shingu Botanical Gardens

We walked around some botanical gardens on Sunday afternoon. There really close to our house. I had no idea they were there. There wasn't as many flowers as I would have liked, but it was peaceful and the weather was nice.

This is why the laundry is always stacking up...
This is why the bed never gets made...
This is why the dishes sometimes pile up and there is always water splashed everywhere...
This is why you can always find a sticky fingerprint somewhere in the house...
And these 2 smiling, happy kids are the reason why, even amongst the messes and never-ending chores, I'm the happiest, luckiest mom in the world!

Ice Cream Man!
Jackson is such a lucky baby. He has tried way more food than Morgan ever did at this point in her life. He's had Cherrios, ice cream, Gold Fish crackers, pretzels, cookies, Root Beer, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the list goes on and on. And he loves EVERYthing!! This kid would eat a Big Mac if I let him!
P.S. He hasn't had all these foods because I give them to him. He's had them because Dad and Morgan feed them to him. If it were my choice he'd be just as sheltered as Morgan was :)

First Swim of the Season!

We went swimming for the first time this summer, and it was Jackson's first time ever. He LOVED the water. As most babies do. Morgan was a bit afraid. But thats probably because we've only been swimming twice since we moved to Korea. We're lucky to have a pool at K16 (they didn't have one when we moved here, yes life at K16 is getting better all the time). I wish it was an outdoor pool, but we're lucky to have it at all.

I didn't get any pictures of Morgan actually in the water, because by the time I got the camera out she was done being in the pool. Same with Jackson. O well, I totally plan on being a poolside bum this summer, so I'm sure we'll have more photo ops :)

We Got Plane Tickets!!!
We are flying Patriot Express from Korea to Seattle, then commercially from Seattle to Salt Lake City on August 31st!!! I can't wait! I'm so excited we're one step closer.
For a change of subject:
I've been thinking a lot lately about how funny it is how we change as parents. I am definitely a different mom now than I was when Morgan was a baby. Its interesting how we grow and change right along with our children. I keep thinking about how I was always so worried that Morgan would be an inconvenience to others. You know, like when she was fussy or didn't get a nap or there was so much going on she was 'overstimulated'. And I even thought that just the fact that she had to eat every few hours and be changed would inconvenience everyone when we went out. When we were staying in Utah when she was about 8 months to 11 months old, I was even worried that she would be an annoyance to our families! It stressed me out to have a crying, unhappy baby, so I assumed it stressed everyone out....
....I now see the error of my ways and I can't wait to 'inconvenience' and 'annoy' our families with my children :)
Also, I always thought that having one kid was so hard, especially when we moved to Korea. I would look at people who had 2 kids and think, "wow, she must be superwoman to be able to handle more than one!" But like I said before, we grow and change right along with our children, and now, having 2 doesn't seem that much different than having one (no mom, this doesn't mean I want to have 5 more!) And I realize you don't have to be superwoman to be a good mom.
Another thing I've been thinking about is personality. I wonder how much of a child's personality is genetic or just natural, and how much is learned from their parents. How much is a product of the order they were born into the family? Because Jackson is very different than Morgan was as a baby. Like most siblings I'm sure. Its so fun and interesting to see their differences and watch them grow and develop more and more personality....or attitude, whatever you want to call it :)

Its Officially Official Now
We got orders yesterday. We are still going to Ft. Hood, Texas. Our plan at this point is to leave Korea sometime between September 1st and 3rd. We will be going straight to Utah where we will visit with family and friends. Sometime in mid-September Clint will be flying to Ft. Rucker, Alabama for the Instructor Pilot Course, I will stay in Utah. He will graduate mid-November and return to Utah. We will spend a few more weeks with family and then pack up our stuff (99% of our belongings are in storage in Utah) and drive the moving truck to Texas the first week of December. We are so excited to get to the next chapter of our lives. Being back in the States is going to be so wonderful and amazing! We have a newfound appreciation for the life we had, and will have, in the United States. We are very blessed to have the conveinences we have there. To have...I'm not sure what the right word is. To have an easy life. Comfortable life. Convenient life. I don't know, its just different. And we can't wait to be there. We can't wait to see all of our friends and family and catch up with them. A few things I'm REALLY looking forward to:
a yard
dishwasher
carpet
grocery store less than 35 minutes away
wide open space
grass
somewhat clean air to breathe
American outlets to plug my appliances into
driving my Mazda
no traffic
church less than an hour away
sidewalks
being able to understand people over the phone (hopefully I can understand the southern accents in Texas lol)
hobby/craft/fabric stores
tap water
non-cement walls
non-military furniture
I could go on forever. But I won't :)
*Just so everyone knows, we CHOSE Ft. Hood. So please stop telling us that we're going to hate it there, and that its so horrible. It is best for Clint's career at this point and it is the closest we could get to family. Also, your situation is what you make of it. Your attitude about your situation can make or break your experience. We will be very happy there and we will love all 4 years of being there because we are the type of people who can "adapt and overcome" and make the best of the situation we're given. We learned to be happy in Alabama, we've learned to be happy in Korea, and we will do the same in Texas.

Jackson is 8 Months Old!!
Getting a decent picture of him was difficult this time. He was more interested in chewing on Pooh's nose than looking at the camera, but we finally got one. Jackson is growing so much. He weighs 19 lbs. He is eating baby cereal and baby food 3 times a day (2 full jars at each sitting), and still breastfeeding every 3 hours, little piglet. He sits up on his own, hates tummy time, waves hi and bye, loves being outside, likes when strangers stop and talk to him, still has blue eyes, wears size 9-12 months, loves to be tickled, still has hair that sticks up, loves his dad SO SO much, smiles at everyone and laughs at everything, and can't wait to meet all his extended family in a few short months! Still no teeth, but I think we're getting there.May 10, 2010
Children's Grand Park

Yesterday Clint had a family day so he didn't have to work. (Its a new thing they're trying to implement, 1 family day a month). So we ventured out and took advantage of the beautiful weather again. This time to the Children's Grand Park in Seoul. The best part about this park is that its FREE!!!
Morgan LOVED this train. She kept trying to climb the fence so she could climb the train.
Jackson was perfectly content in the stroller all day chewing on his fingers.
The park has a zoo, which is also free. It was an amazing zoo for being free. I expected local animals in cages. But they had everything a normal zoo would have.
I really wanted a cute picture of Clint and Morgan in front of this waterfall, but the girl to the left was dressed nice a posing for pictures. Graduation maybe?

Morgan wouldn't say "monkey" all she would say is ooo ooo eee eee.

This family bathroom had a cute little kid toilet. Morgan loved it!
One of the funniest things about Korea is their public exercise equipment. I guess maybe thats why they stay in fairly decent shape throughout their adulthood.
Jackson was the star of the show at the park. Everyone loves his blue eyes. And he likes to wave to everyone who passes by, so he was getting quite a bit of attention.
On our way out Morgan begged daddy for a balloon. You can't see it cause the wind was blowing it behind Clint, but she was blissfully happy about it.
