Blast From the Past
My step dad found this picture the other day. Look at my older brothers! Aren't they so beautiful? I wish our memories could go back that far so I could remember what they were like back then. I was only 1 month old in this picture. This is the first picture I've ever seen of myself younger than 1 year old. The dress I'm wearing is the same dress Morgan wore when Clint gave her a name and blessed her in our church (a very special occassion for LDS families). I wonder if that is my mom's arm holding me and if I'm looking into her eyes? So precious.
Marshall is in the center, Jason on the left, and Travis on the right.

Ramblings of a Lonely Woman
So Clint left today for 7 or 8 days or something like that. And I just finished watching Bridge to Teribithia for the first time. Pretty sad movie, I cried my eyes out.
You know something that really bothers me. When my husband leaves for a week, it kind of makes me sad. Us military wives, we can handle it, its what we do. But it just bothers me when someone says something like "oh, please, I'VE been seperated from MY husband for A LOT longer." Ha! News flash...I've been seperated from my husband for a lot longer than a week too! But that doesn't mean I LIKE it when he leaves for a week. And when one of my friend's husbands have to leave for even one night, I sympathize with them if they are sad. I don't say, "well, you should try being alone for 3 months, or a year!" (not that we've been seperated for a year, but we will some day). Why do such petty little things become a competition to some people?
Anyway, I'm addicted to reading. You wanna see my list of books I want to read? You probably don't but here it is...These are in no specific order...
Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites Series by Chris Hemmerdinger
Savvy by Ingrid Law
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
The Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter by Susan Wittig Albert
The Legacy of the King's Pirates by Marylu Tyndall
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Wicked by Gregory Mcguire
The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler
To Love, Honor, and Vacuum by Sheila Gregoire
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Rebecca by Daphne DuMarier
Parenting With Love and Logic
The Fire Within Series by Chris D'Lacey
Any Max Lucado book
Hearts in Hiding by Betsy Brannon Green
The Inheritence Trilogy (Eregon, etc.)
George and Martha, a Love Story by Mary Higgins Clark
The Atlantis Series by Greg Donegan
Any Robin Cook medical thriller book
Think I can read all these before the baby is born? I've already read more books this year than I did the entire year last year.
In your honest opinion, (because this is, lately, a topic of conversation in our home) is reading for entertainment a waste of time? Does it distract you from your responsibilities as a spouse/parent? Is it something you think God approves or disapproves of? I do read for knowledge every once-in-a-while. I'm currently ready Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey.
Its no different than watching TV for entertainment right? However, I think reading (even fantasy, fiction, etc.) is good for the brain. Your imagination gets excercise, you learn new words sometimes, and sometimes you learn a valuable life lesson.
So what do you think? Is reading for entertainment a waste of precious time?

About That Last Post
That was Clint who posted our little conversation. We were talking about how wasps make their nests and he said maybe they make it out of regurgitated food, just like bees make honey. But I thought he said regurgitated poop, and I knew that didn't sound right. So I said the first "smart" thing that came to my mind, "honey comes from tree sap duh". Which turned out to not be so smart after all. Thats what I get for trying to think fast. I blame it on pregnancy!

Quote of the day
"Don't you know where honey comes from" asked Clint.
"Yea... It comes from tree sap. Duh..." said Katie.

Dance Dance
On Saturday I caught Morgan dancing in front of the mirror, but her arms got a little out of control and she hurt herself...
After she realized the pain wasn't all that bad, she really started getting into it...
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Finished April 30, 2009From the back of the book: Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy that takes over the minds of human hosts. Most of humanity has succumbed. When Melanie--one of the last remaining humans--is captured, she is certain it is her end.
Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, probes her thoughts to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to seperate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer to yearn for a man she is tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous search for the man they both love.
I LOVED this book. Probably better than the Twilight series (they're by the same author). Stephenie Meyer is, in my opinion, a very talented author and I hope she comes out with a new book soon! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves modern fiction.
