This was a rough shoot. Morgan's normal agent wasn't there. Her assistant was, and she isn't very good with kids. She kept flashing candy at them and saying "you have candy after you take pictures". Unfortunately, neither Morgan nor Apaulo understood this very well and it just upset them. It didn't help that the shoot took place right during naptime. She only did 2 outfits this time.
For some reason they thought they'd come her hair to the opposite side that it naturally falls. It didn't stay too well, which was frustrating to everyone. Sometimes I wish they'd just let me do her hair.

By this time Morgan was not cooperating at all, so I was doing all the work of trying to get her to smile and pose, etc. So this is the only pic I got of this outfit.

The North and South Korean Border

Katie made me blog this one. Its my first time. This picture is at the Korean border inside the DMZ. The border is about ten feet behind us. The blue buildings are where the North Koreans meet with the South Koreans. The border goes right through the middle of the buildings. If you look closely you can see a North Korean guard watching our every move with binoculars. There are also cameras all over the place that moved as we moved. We had to wear these yellow arm bands to signify that we were unarmed. The guy on the left is a Captain in the Royal Danish Army and the guy next to him is a LTC in ROK Marine Corp. We flew to a helipad that is just east of this area and is literally 200ft from the border. It's kind of nerve racking taking off facing North Korea when it is that close. The Google Earth image shows the area.

My friend has a blog called Let's Get Creative. (You can see it HERE). She puts lots of cute stuff on their, including cute hairstyles for little girls. I decided to try one on Morgan, since her hair is getting so long. I adapted it a little, since Morgan doesn't have a lot of thick hair, but here is what I came up with for gymnastics yesterday. (can you tell she didn't want her picture taken?)

I thought it turned out cute and I got a lot of compliments on it.
When we got home from gymnastics we had a package in the mail. 2 new outfits and some hair bows from gramma! Morgan wanted to wear both pairs of leggings, both dresses, ALL of the hair bows, and her coat. Don't ask me why.....but she wore it around for about an hour. Thanks for the new stuff Gramma!!

A Lesson ReLearned

Yesterday after Morgan's gymnastics class one of the new mothers asked the rest of the mothers if she could talk to us for a minute. Once she had our attention she explained to us that her son is Autistic, and although he looks like he is 5, he's actually only 3. She told us that he was in a different gymnastics class where the other parents did not like his behavior and actually got together and asked the teacher to remove him from their class. With tears in her eyes she apologized to us for her son's behavior and begged us to accept him and to not ask him to leave. I couldn't believe that this woman felt like she had to apologize for her son's disability. I couldn't believe that adults (regardless of whether or not they knew of his disability) would get together and ask that a child not be allowed to participate in an exercise program. I was so sad for this woman that these people actually made her feel like she should be sorry that her son is the way he is. She was so desperate for her son to be accepted and to participate in some physical activities and she was hurt so badly by other's actions. It really made me realize how cruel we can be to each other. It was a good reminder to me that I should never judge a parent of a child who is misbehaving or who seems out of control. And I should never judge that child either. Every child is perfect in God's eyes, regardless of their situation. I'm thankful for my 2 "perfect" children and I'm thankful for this woman who reached out to others and gave us a tiny glimpse of the challenges she faces every day. She reminded me of a good lesson I had already learned yet sometimes forget.
