The Hunger Games

"In the ruins of what was once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a Capitol surrounded by 12 districts. The Capitol is cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV."

I got this book for Christmas and it only took me a couple of days to finish reading. It was SO good! At first I didn't like the author's writing style, and I have to admit I got a little irritated with it in some parts, but the story was great and it kept me wanting more. "One more chapter" kept turning into 3 or 4 more chapters. This is the first book in the trilogy. I think its about a 7th grade reading level, so not difficult at all.

I laid J on the couch the other day and went to do some laundry. This is how I found the kids when I came back in. So precious. Can you believe how big J is getting?

Your Tax Dollars...Hard At Work

The snow we got yesterday was a record for Korea. The most snow they've seen since 1937. According to an English newspaper here, we got 25 cm, which is about 10 inches. The road conditions were RED, which means emergencies only. However, our soldiers here at good ol' K-16 still went to work. I stole some pictures of the guys 'hard at work' from our friend, Steve.

The Devestating Effects of Global Warming....

This was 8 o'clock this morning and its still coming down. Now I'm starting to feel at home. I only remember 2 snowfalls last year in Korea and neither of them stuck to the ground. This is starting to feel like Utah snow and I LOVE it!! Morgan was supposed to start gymnastics today though, but the road conditions are so bad I couldn't take her :( I feel bad when I see people out walking in this stuff. They don't seem to have a snow plow and salting system in place here. So people are walking down our street in snow above their ankles.

The kids have been so sick for the last week. We haven't stepped foot outside the house since Tuesday! We've watched a lot of movies and drank lots of juice! Morgan's 2 favorite things!

She was definitely feeling better yesterday. Getting into lots of trouble and playing dress like dad.

In 2009 I read 15 books. More than any other year in my life. This year I would like to read even more than that! On my list for 2010 (and not in any particular order):

How on earth am I going to accomplish this? you ask...Well, I'm going to read while I feed Jackson. That should give me a good hour of intermittent reading every day. Until he starts nursing less anyway.

Mothers of the Prophets

This book was really difficult for me to get into. In fact I haven't completely finished it. But it gives a brief history of every mother of every prophet since Joseph Smith Jr. Its pretty amazing the stuff these women went through, especially in the 18 and 1900's. A lot of illness and death in their families. It definitely made me appreciate the knowledge and technology we have now. I don't think I could handle losing a child let alone several children.
