Some of Easter with my family-March 24, 2008

My family celebrated Easter on Monday along with a birthday party for my neice and nephew. We spent a couple of hours at Chuck E. Cheese's then went home and had an Easter egg hunt before having dinner. These are the only pictures I ended up with somehow.
This is Morgan's cute new dress that Aunt Candace gave her for Easter. I think its adorable! I love the bright colors and it looked so good on her.

Almost Jail Birds-March 15, 2008

Okay, at the request of Erin and Nikki, heres the story about how we almost got thrown in jail. It really isn't as exciting as it sounds. But here it is...

When we went to the Dominican Republic we rented a car so we could go visit some of the families that Clint taught while he was on his mission. First, you must know that down in the "DR" they drive like lunatics! There's pretty much no rules except for red means stop and green means go. There's no 'right-of-way', no blinkers, no double yellow lines. Its pretty much every man for himself. So we were trying to fight our way through traffic when a cop on a dirt bike pulls up to the side of us and motions for us to pull over. So we pull over and he takes Clint's drivers license from him and tells us to follow him. He was taking us to the station because we ran a red light. (the stop light was actually not working at the time). Clint argued with him in Spanish for a while but he kept saying he had to take us to the station. He got back on his bike and we started following him. But a minute later he pulled to the side of the road, we did the same and he came to the window and said give me 100 dollars or I'll put you in jail. Clint refused and told him he lived in the DR for 2 years and knows how things work and this guy is full of crap. The cop said okay, give me 50 bucks then or I'm gonna put you in jail. Clint laughed at him and demanded he give him his license back and again told the cop that he's full of crap. Finally after yelling back and forth in Spanish the guy gave Clint his license and got on his bike and drove away. After about 15 minutes of me being absolutely confused about what was going on and Clint almost ready to assault an officer, we kept all our money and didn't go to jail.

4 Years

I don't know how to do anything fancy on blogger, but I wanted to pay tribute to my amazing husband on our anniversary. We've had so many great experiences in the last 4 years!

In June of 2003 Clint and I met at a friends house. My friend, Kim, was trying to set me up with her fiance's friend that night, but turned out that Clint and I clicked much faster. He got my phone number that night and we went out for ice cream the next night. We ended up watching the movie Charly at his house and talking all night long. 6 months later, on December 15th, he proposed to me at the Snowed Inn up in park city. It was totally unexpected because the previous week he had been acting very strange...not wanting to see me, keeping our phone conversations very short and inpersonal, even telling me we were "moving too fast". The night before he proposed I was actually in tears, convinced that he would be breaking up with me any day. His plan worked, I was shocked when I felt a cold round object slip onto my left ring finger when I put on my gloves. 3 months later, March 12, 2004 we got married in the Salt Lake Temple. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day, even though he forgot to bring his grandma's silver knife to cut the cake with. :) (we ended up using a huge bread knife and plastic spatula from the kitchen at the church).

Since then we have had a wonderful life. Clint spent 4 weeks as a student in Costa Rica where I was able to meet up with him for 1 week. We took surfing lessons, zip lined through the jungle, explored the country on a dirt bike, visited Germany, learned about the devastation of WW2 while visiting consentration camps and museums, returned to the Dominican Republic where Clint served his mission. We've almost been thrown in jail, we went to Disneyland, we've moved 4 times, joined the military, moved 2000 miles to Alabama, driving 32+ hours straight in a gigantic Penske truck, surfed some more, discovered the beauty of the Florida panhandle, driven to Atlanta and Birmingham too many times, graduated from nursing school, we now have the most beautiful baby girl in the world, and have met tons of wonderful people along the road.

Happy anniversary babe! Wish we could have eaten that yummy barbeque dinner together!

I think 2 months is eternity-March 11, 2008

So here I find myself back home in Utah, but still 2000 miles away from home. Its funny how when you move away from the place you call home all you want to do is go back. And then when you do, you find yourself homesick for the home you moved away to. (well, it makes sense in my head). I'm back in Utah. Ever since having Morgan I've been so homesick for Utah. I finally convinced Clint to buy me a plane ticket. After we bought the ticket several family events started coming up and being planned, so rather than flying back to Alabama and then returning to Utah a few weeks later for these special events, I'm staying in Utah for 2+ months. Now I find myself homesick for Alabama. Mostly because thats where Clint is. It never gets easy to be away from him, in my opinion. And the anticipation of being gone 2 months makes me miss him 10 times more. But I miss my friends too. I know its only been 2 days! I'm going to miss family home evening with them, going to lunch, recipe swap, and everything else. What am I going to do when we move away from Alabama? I understand how you're feeling right now Natalie. I never thought I'de be close to anyone in Alabama. "We're just here temporarily" I told myself "there's no point in getting attached to anyone". Ha, funny. I couldn't help it I guess. Cause I feel attached to so many of you out there. I'm so thankful for the friendships I have created with all of you. I hope our paths cross again in the future when we're all finished at Ft. Rucker and sent our various ways. And I hope none of you are having fun without me right now! :) I guess its true when they say home is where the Army sends you. But its only that way if you make it that way. Its even more true that home is where my husband is (unless he's deployed over seas). Salt Lake City will always be my hometown, but wherever we're stationed at the time will be home. I can learn to love whatever city state or country we're sent to as long as we're together.
