Octoberness

"Honey, where did the kids go?" "Oh, they're outside, jumping in the rain!"

On October 26th Clint ran his first marathon.  The months of training were long and hard (on all of us), but it turned out to be a fun weekend and a great experience for Clint.  The marathon was called Marathon 2 Marathon.  It started 26 miles outside of Marathon, Texas and they ran into the town. Marathon is about 7 miles west of our home town, so we made it an overnight trip.
Hanging out in the hotel after a long day of driving.
It was a beautiful day for a marathon!  Clint said the weather started out a little chilly and ended too warm.

The kids hung out with me at the finish line to cheer on the runners.
And here comes #80!!!  Looking like he's in a lot of pain!
Clint's official time was 3:52:29.  Not too bad for a first timer!
Immediately after the race he kept saying "why do people put themselves through this kind of pain. I don't think I'll ever do this again". Well, guess who's already looking for his next marathon! Yeah, he's totally going to do it again!
After fueling up the truck and our tummies, we headed back home.  The poor kids were exhausted by the end of the trip, but they were real troopers and we had a fun little getaway weekend.

Way to go Clint! What a fun Marathon to run....although I think you have a bit of a typo....when you said 7 miles west of your house I am guessing you meant hours? Just thought you may want to know.

I noticed that too Kate. I love it that the kids will jump in the rain. When we were kids living in Puerto Rico we used to play in the rain all the time. We lived at the bottom of a hill and we would build popsicle boats and float them down the hill. It was awesome. We roller skated in the rain, we would play for hours in the rain. That is awesome that Clint was able to do that. That is such an accomplishment. Does he realize he has reached the goal of running a marathon and the only goal left is to beat his time? He will have to run faster and it will hurt more. :-) He can do it though. Of that I have no doubt. Love all the pictures. Thanks for posting.
